Making Big Whoopie Slings for your hammock with 1/8th Amsteel

I needed to make some whoopie slings for my new REI Quarter Dome Air Hammock so I could hang with the big trees around here.  I had also been wondering about going a little bigger with 1/8th amsteel, rather than the 7/64th size to up the strength.  The procedure is the same, but the end overall strength to forces almost double.  And I love to experiment and learn.

The average break strength:
7/64th is 1600lbs
1/8th is 2500lbs

The weight of a whoopie sling made from 12.5 feet of 7/64th was 0.6 ounce, while the 1/8th came in at 1 ounce even.

To me the 0.4 added ounce is worth the weight in accordance to the added strength added.
